Summer greetings from Washington!
After a stretch of whirlwind seasons in Washington, the last few months have been relatively quiet. One of the most pressing issues was the conflict in Iran and its impact on gas prices at home, and Congress has begun raising questions about its role regarding the military action in Iran.
Republicans passed a reconciliation bill on June 9th to fund immigration enforcement, but otherwise Congress has enacted little major legislation in recent months. That said, with the midterm elections looming, the summer sprint is underway. The appropriations process is moving forward in both the House and Senate committees, but if you’re waiting for all twelve bills to reach the floor, don’t hold your breath.
